  1. I have been living with someone since the beginning of December and now suddenly she wants me to leave. I have been giving her money for rent but we have no official agreement. She wants me gone tomorrow, what are my rights? I’m in Virginia btw.

  2. Hey Tra E

In Virginia, since you’ve been living in the property since December and have been paying rent, you are likely considered a tenant under state law, even without a formal lease agreement. This means your roommate/landlord must follow Virginia’s legal eviction process to remove you, which includes providing written notice and obtaining a court order if necessary. Simply wanting you to leave “tomorrow” does not comply with legal requirements. You have the right to receive proper notice before any eviction proceedings begin. Given your situation, it would be wise to seek legal advice to understand your rights fully and explore your options.
